Awarded for services to the Scotch Whisky Industry.
In May 2013, Founder and Chairman of The Last Drop Distillers Limited, James Espey was appointed to the Order of the British Empire in HRH Queen Elizabeth II Birthday Honours List, for his services to the Scotch Whisky Industry. He is one of a very small group of people to have been recognised in this way. The Right Hon Alex Salmond MSP, First Minister of Scotland, has written to James to congratulate him as follows:

Your enthusiasm has ensured that over the years Scotch has regained its momentum to the point that it now sells more volume at higher value than ever before. A tremendous achievement.”
